Two journalists from an online news channel were arrested in Hyderabad on Wednesday, facing allegations of distributing a video with derogatory content against the Telangana government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The arrests followed accusations that the video, allegedly shot in the office of the BRS, was intended to defame and propagate false information against the state leadership.

The arrest of P Revathi, Managing Director, and B Sandhya, reporter of the online news channel, stemmed from a police investigation revealing their involvement in the video's production and circulation, particularly during the Telangana Legislative Assembly's Budget session in March. Police seized several electronic devices from their office, which were allegedly used in the orchestration of the video.

The incident drew criticism from BRS working president K T Rama Rao, who targeted the Congress government over the arrests and highlighted issues of press freedom. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police advised public caution in posting potentially defamatory content on social media, emphasizing that such actions could lead to significant legal consequences.
