The Odisha Assembly witnessed multiple adjournments due to the uproar caused by the opposition BJD over the controversial Polavaram Dam project. The protest, aimed at the Andhra Pradesh project, coincided with Congress MLAs boycotting proceedings for the second day over the suspension of senior MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati.

During the assembly, members of the BJD, led by deputy leader Prasanna Acharya, staged a protest demanding discussion on the Polavaram issue. They argued that Odisha's interests are at stake and accused the BJP of political maneuvering. However, the Speaker rejected discussions on the grounds of the issue being sub-judice.

Meanwhile, Congress demanded justice for Bahinipati, claiming his suspension was unjust and politically motivated, related to his focus on increasing crimes against women. Despite the disruptions, the post-lunch session continued smoothly with BJD's participation.
