In a heated address to the Rajya Sabha, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva has criticized the central government for undermining 'cooperative federalism' through reduced fund allocations to Tamil Nadu.
Siva accused the government of treating the state with 'step-motherly' neglect, pointing out inadequate disaster relief funds amounting to a mere Rs. 267 crore against a substantial demand of Rs. 37,906 crore following devastating cyclones and floods.
The MP further highlighted delays in significant infrastructure projects like the Madurai and Coimbatore metro rails, urging a revision in tax devolution policies to rectify structural fiscal disparities stunting Tamil Nadu's economic progress.
