Delhi's political landscape is stirred as PWD Minister Parvesh Verma declared a crackdown on so-called illegal meat sellers in anticipation of Navratri. The announcement followed concerns raised by BJP MLA Karnail Singh in the Delhi Assembly about open meat sales on footpaths and shops.
Minister Verma assured the assembly that all officers are instructed to remove any illegal encroachments, emphasizing that MLAs are encouraged to report any violations within their constituencies. The drive, he affirmed, aims at removing unauthorized meat and fish-selling units across the city, with Verma promising personal oversight.
The controversy intensified with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh's accusation of selective enforcement by the BJP. Singh criticized the ruling party for targeting small meat vendors while ignoring larger establishments, marking a heated start to the first budget session of Delhi's eighth Legislative Assembly.
