On Thursday evening, the Punjab districts of Pathankot and Amritsar experienced a government-enforced blackout as rising tensions between India and Pakistan reached a peak.
Reports of a loud noise in Pathankot sparked fears of shelling from the Pakistan side, though no confirmation was provided. Local authorities urged residents not to panic and emphasized there was no immediate threat.
The escalation comes in the aftermath of Indian missile strikes targeting nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The targets included significant bases such as Jaish-e-Mohammad's headquarters in Bahawalpur.
