UNICEF Criticizes Aid Distribution Plans for Gaza
UNICEF criticized proposed humanitarian aid distribution plans for Gaza by the U.S. and Israel, warning they would worsen suffering for children and families. The plans suggest a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation handling aid, which UNICEF says increases risks and displacement. UNICEF urges lifting the aid blockade instead.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has voiced criticism over emerging plans for humanitarian aid distribution in Gaza, proposed by Israel and the United States, which are said to potentially worsen the plight of children and families in the region.
These plans involve creating a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to distribute food through 'Secure Distribution Sites', similar to proposals from Israel, drawing concerns about increased displacement. UNICEF spokesperson James Elder highlighted issues with these plans, emphasizing their potential to exacerbate suffering.
An alternative, according to Elder, is to lift the blockade on Gaza, allowing unhindered aid entry, which UNICEF argues is crucial to addressing hunger and preventing malnutrition-related deaths in the enclave.
