Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte secured a landslide victory in the Davao mayoral election, according to official results announced Tuesday. This victory comes despite Duterte's ongoing detention by the International Criminal Court.

Official tallies revealed Duterte amassed over 660,000 votes, far surpassing his nearest competitor. The Duterte family's political influence was reflected in the appointments of his son Sebastian as vice mayor and his son Paolo's reelection to the House of Representatives. The president's grandsons also claimed key local positions.

The election outcomes strengthen Sara Duterte's position ahead of her Senate impeachment trial. While the Senate race provided a boost for her political aspirations, looming charges could jeopardize her future. Political experts believe the election results signal a shift in the nation's political landscape.
