N Ramachander Rao is set to become the President of the Telangana BJP, taking over from Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. Having filed the only nomination, Rao is expected to be announced as the new president.
The deadline for nominations closed on Monday, with an election slated for Tuesday if needed. Rao, a practicing lawyer, was a member of the Legislative Council from 2015 to 2021, representing the Hyderabad–Ranga Reddy–Mahabubnagar Graduates' Constituency. He also held the role of BJP Hyderabad City President.
Rao's political journey began in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) as its president from 1977 to 1980 during his bachelor's studies. The shift in leadership comes as the BJP attempts to address internal issues and speculations before the Assembly elections. Kishan Reddy became state party chief in July 2023 after replacing Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who joined as Union Minister of State for Home.
