In a significant political move, Babajani Durrani, former NCP leader and one-time legislator, declared his allegiance to the Congress on Thursday, accompanied by a group of supporters.
Durrani told reporters that the influence of regional parties is dwindling, leaving voters with a binary choice between Congress and BJP. He noted that only time will reveal the future of regional entities.
Harshwardhan Sapkal, Maharashtra Congress president, and leader Amit Deshmukh welcomed Durrani, citing his grassroots leadership as a valuable asset to the party. Previously, Durrani backed Sharad Pawar's faction following the NCP split in 2023.
