Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh met with Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting addressed accelerating vital projects within the state and enhancing cooperation for energy security and public welfare.

Lokesh emphasized the importance of the proposed BPCL refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Ramayapatnam, Nellore district, a significant initiative promised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The ₹95,000 crore project, spanning 6,000 acres, is anticipated to create over 5,000 direct jobs and boost industrialization. Lokesh noted the potential for fostering local employment, MSME partnerships, and maritime infrastructure.

Focusing on welfare, Minister Lokesh highlighted the rollout of Andhra Pradesh's Deepam 2.0 scheme, aimed at providing free LPG cylinders to eligible families, thereby empowering women and BPL households. Efforts are underway to align this with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to broaden its reach and effectiveness, significantly improving health and lowering indoor air pollution levels.

In a separate meeting, Lokesh met Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to advocate for enhanced diaspora relations and responsible migration, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India's global workforce strategy. The AP delegation's recent visit to Singapore was also discussed, highlighting potential collaborations with central government support.
