Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed strong condemnation following an ambush in Manipur's Bishnupur district on Friday which resulted in the deaths of two Assam Rifles personnel. The attack left two jawans dead and five others injured, creating a wave of sorrow and outrage across the country.
The tragic incident occurred when armed assailants targeted the Assam Rifles' vehicle in Nambol Sabal Leikai. The victims, identified as Naib Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap, were en route to Bishnupur district from Imphal at the time of the attack.
Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap hailed from Bastar, Chhattisgarh, a fact highlighted by Chief Minister Sai in a heartfelt message. He honored the sacrifice of the soldiers on social media platform X, extending his condolences to their families and emphasizing the strengthening of national unity and resolve.
