Naveen Patnaik, BJD chief and former Odisha CM, has strongly condemned the assault on party worker and social media activist Rashmi Parija in Jagatsinghpur district. He demanded strict action against those responsible for the attack, which has caused unrest across the peaceful state of Odisha.
The assault on Parija, who was reportedly beaten by men allegedly linked to BJP, has led to demands from BJD leaders for immediate arrests. Parija sustained injuries and had to be hospitalized. Despite previous complaints citing threats to her life, preventative measures were reportedly not taken by the authorities.
Amidst rising tensions, BJD MP Sulta Deo denounced the act as a disturbing intimidation attempt. Odisha BJP, however, denied any involvement in the attack, worsening the political strife between both major parties in the region.
