Tejashwi Yadav, a leading figure in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), made a significant announcement on Wednesday regarding employment policies in Bihar. He promised that if the INDIA bloc comes to power, all contractual workers in various Bihar government departments, along with around 2 lakh 'community mobilisers' from among the 'Jeevika Didis', would be made permanent employees.
Yadav added that these 'community mobilisers' would also be granted a monthly salary of Rs 30,000. The INDIA bloc’s proposal aims to enhance job security and financial benefits for these workers, contingent upon their success in the upcoming state assembly elections.
Currently, the Bihar government is implementing the World Bank-supported Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project, known locally as 'Jeevika', focusing on the social and economic empowerment of the rural poor. Known as 'Jeevika Didis', the women involved are central to this initiative. Bihar's 243-member assembly elections are scheduled for November, with votes counted on November 14.
