NSUI Lodges Complaint Against BJP MLA for 'Cartoon' Remark

The Hamirpur unit of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) filed a police complaint against BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma following his controversial remarks about Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The complaint accuses Sharma of disrespecting the dignity of the chief minister's office.

Sharma, representing Dharamsala, had posted a photograph on Facebook depicting the chief minister holding a sketch of his portrait with the caption, suggesting it was a 'cartoon.' This post has been met with severe criticism and viewed as undermining the constitutional respect owed to the chief minister.

NSUI state president Tony Thakur has called for an FIR against Sharma, arguing that such remarks should not recur. The controversy is further fuelled by Sharma's past political shifts, having been among six Congress MLAs who supported a BJP candidate in a previous election.
