VPP president Ardent M Basaiawmoit has called for an independent investigation into the execution of MLA schemes in Meghalaya. His appeal seeks to ensure transparency amid concerns over the deployment of substantial public funds.
Addressing the chief minister in a letter, Basaiawmoit requested the probe to commence from 2008, focusing initially on the projects within his constituency in East Khasi Hills district. The call responds to recent apprehensions about scheme implementations in opposition-led areas.
Highlighting gaps in accountability, such as missing Utilisation Certificates for over Rs 10 crore in Discretionary Grant funds, Basaiawmoit underscored the need for a transparent audit. He hopes the government will act on the proposal to bolster public confidence in governance practices.
