Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the Punjab Congress president, has expressed serious apprehensions about what he sees as a coordinated action to deny mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to candidates ahead of the Zila Parishad and Block Parishad elections on December 14. Warring claims that officials responsible for issuing these NOCs are often absent, leaving candidates across Punjab unable to file their nomination papers.
The situation, which Warring describes as a significant breach of the electoral process, seems designed to hamper opposition candidates. He has alerted State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhari, IAS, demanding urgent intervention to resolve this issue. Warring emphasized that denying NOCs at this stage endangers both the fairness of the election and the credibility of the entire electoral process.
The Punjab Congress is pressing for a swift response from the State Election Commission to address these disruptions in the nomination process before the December 14 elections. Additionally, Warring criticized the BJP and its policies as alienating to Punjabis, echoing former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's sentiment that the BJP, even with SAD, has no future in the state.
