Political Parties Gear Up for Proportional Representation Elections
The Election Commission has announced the application dates for political parties wishing to contest in the coming House of Representatives election under the Proportional Representation system. Applications are due between December 7 and 10, with a finalized candidate list to be published in late December. The new House will elect 110 members via proportional representation.

The Election Commission (EC) has extended an invitation to political parties interested in participating in the impending House of Representatives election under the Proportional Representation procedure.
In a notice issued on Friday, the EC instructed interested parties to submit their applications between December 7 and December 10, allowing a three-day window for submission.
The EC office, led by Election Officer Mahadev Pantha, will publish the parties' application list on December 10. Candidates for the proportional category must be listed by December 28 or 29. According to Election Programme guidelines, January 20 is the registration and publication date for the first-past-the-post candidates. The 275-seat House will have 165 members elected directly and 110 through proportional representation.
