Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to initiate a significant debate on December 8 in Lok Sabha to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song, Vande Mataram. In Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah will spearhead the discussions on December 9, sources confirmed.
A parallel debate on election reforms will be held on December 9 and 10 in Lok Sabha, and in Rajya Sabha on December 10 and 11. This debate will encompass all aspects of electoral reform, addressing long-standing opposition demands for a comprehensive discussion.
The decision to hold these debates follows an all-party meeting that resolved ongoing parliamentary disruptions. This move aims to recognize the historic role of Vande Mataram in India's freedom struggle while facilitating crucial discussions on electoral transparency and legality, amidst concerns about illegal immigration.
