Krishna Yadav was appointed as the new chief minister of Madhes Province on Friday, as confirmed by Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party sources. Yadav's appointment comes after he garnered the backing of a seven-party coalition in the provincial assembly.

The position became available after CPN-UML's Saroj Kumar Yadav resigned on Wednesday, unable to attain the necessary majority support. Surendra Labh Karna, the provincial head of Nepali Congress, endorsed Yadav for the post.

Yadav clinched his candidacy after winning support from six political entities, including the CPN-Maoist Centre, Unified Socialist Party, and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, among others, securing the chief minister position for himself.
