The Samajwadi Party (SP) has charged the Uttar Pradesh government with succumbing to pressure from the ruling BJP, resulting in the abrupt cancellation of a program commemorating Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Diwas.
At a press conference at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Auditorium, SP leaders including MP R K Chaudhary criticized the sudden withdrawal of allotment for the December 6 tribute event, calling it an 'authoritarian and undemocratic action'.
The SP plans to continue observing Mahaparinirvan Diwas across Uttar Pradesh, pledging to honor Ambedkar and accusing the BJP of disrespecting his legacy and attempting to suppress Dalit political consciousness.
