A significant exchange of gunfire between Pakistani and Afghan forces escalated at the Chaman border, as reported by media sources on Saturday.
The incident left several individuals injured but, fortunately, resulted in no deaths, according to the Dawn newspaper.
Mutual accusations flared, with both countries blaming each other for initiating the clash late Friday near the border in Pakistan's Balochistan province.
Pakistani officials contended that Afghan forces launched mortar shells into the Badani area. In contrast, Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid asserted that Pakistan initiated the attack on Spin Boldak, prompting a response from their forces.
Unverified reports also suggested clashes on the Chaman-Kandahar highway. A Quetta-based official confirmed the exchange, which began around 10 pm and extended into the late hours.
Despite the gravity of the situation, there was no official communication from Pakistan's military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, nor from the Foreign Office.
This clash adds to the souring relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, fueled by Pakistan's accusations about Afghan failure to act against TTP terrorists.
Both nations previously agreed to a ceasefire; however, tensions persist due to unfulfilled conditions regarding terrorist activities.
