In a move to challenge the claims of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Congress party has shared excerpts from the diary of Vallabhbhai Patel's daughter. The entries, sourced from the book 'Samarpit Padchhayo Sardarno', aim to refute Singh's statement about Nehru's intention to fund the construction of the Babri Masjid using public money.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media to assert that Singh's remarks were misleading. Ramesh accused the Defence Minister of disseminating falsehoods to curry favor with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and called for an apology.
The BJP, standing by Singh, cited the 'Inside Story of Sardar Patel, Diary of Maniben Patel' as the basis for their claims. They argue the diary supports the notion that Nehru raised the issue of the Babri mosque while Patel opposed government expenditure on its construction.
