Kerala's political landscape intensified on Saturday as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan refuted allegations by the opposition UDF that the CPI(M) and Jamaat-e-Islami had a longstanding alliance. Vijayan dismissed the claims, asserting the Left Front's independence from the Muslim outfit.
At a press conference, Vijayan highlighted the Left Front's historical stance, noting the Jamaat-e-Islami's refusal to ally with Marxists in the past. The chief minister countered statements made by IUML's P K Kunhalikutty, insisting such links never existed.
The controversy escalated when Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan revealed a photograph claiming close ties between CPI(M) leaders and the Muslim group, igniting fierce political exchanges between the two fronts in Kerala.
