Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accepted a challenge for a public debate on the performance of the state's UDF MPs in Parliament, a challenge first posed by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal. Chief Minister Vijayan has asked the opposition to set a date and time for the debate.
Venugopal's statements were a response to Vijayan's accusations that UDF MPs have frequently failed to advocate for Kerala's development interests and have occasionally sided with central policies that undermine the state. In return, Venugopal maintained that UDF MPs continuously strive to uphold Kerala's benefits in the Parliament.
While Vijayan claims that opposition MPs attempted actions detrimental to the state, Venugopal argues that UDF representatives have addressed key issues such as deep-sea fishing and financial discrimination against Kerala. The stage is set for a high-profile political discourse regarding Kerala's legislative advocacy.
