In the height of Maharashtra's political discourse, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde lashed out at the Opposition on Sunday. He condemned their demands for the Leader of Opposition post, arguing that their energies would be better spent addressing pressing regional issues, particularly those pertaining to Vidarbha.

Speaking in Nagpur, Shinde urged Opposition members to prioritize the concerns of Vidarbha's residents during the ongoing legislative session. He recalled their previous tenure, stating, "They were there before 2014; look at that situation," and accused them of resorting to mere allegations and criticisms.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified the government's stance, emphasizing that the decision on appointing a Leader of Opposition lies solely with the Assembly Speaker and Legislative Council Chairman. He noted the current opposition as being "directionless" and stressed that the ruling Mahayuti alliance harbors no biases regarding the leadership post.
