After days of deliberation, the ruling partners BJP and Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, have resolved to jointly contest the municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra, including those in Mumbai and Thane.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Shinde finalized this decision during a late-night meeting on Monday. They agreed to present a united front under the Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming elections, according to sources.
The specific dates for these elections have not yet been announced. Key meetings, including one in Nagpur attended by BJP leaders Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Ravindra Chavan, have emphasized cooperation and discouraged intra-alliance competition. Local seat-sharing negotiations are set to commence shortly, signaling a concerted effort to maintain alliance harmony.
