Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has commended party workers for their efforts to protect voting rights amid the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav, in a Hindi post on social media platform X, praised 'PDA praharis'—party workers from backward classes, Dalits, and minorities—for tirelessly working to safeguard each vote. In recognition of their service, Yadav announced that the party plans to honor them with "commendation certificates" and preserve their contributions in history.
The former chief minister expressed concern over alleged discrepancies in the SIR mapping application, which he claims could disenfranchise millions. Yadav emphasized the Samajwadi Party's commitment to raising awareness and possibly agitating to secure voting rights, maintaining that these rights form the core of all other rights. His call for action seeks a equitable, dignified, and harmonious 'PDA society.'
