Senior Punjab Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa has condemned the State Election Commission (SEC), accusing it of 'inaction' despite receiving detailed complaints about potential misconduct in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
According to Bajwa, his written warnings about security threats, including claims of voter intimidation and police misuse, were ignored. He had requested additional security, CCTV coverage, and transparency in polling processes, yet no measures have been taken by the SEC.
Bajwa further alleged police raids on Congress supporters motivated by political pressure, highlighting an incident in Alma village where family members were reportedly harassed. He demanded disciplinary action against involved officers, warning that their presence could compromise the election's integrity.
