An unfortunate incident marred the UDF's celebration of their victory in the Kerala civic polls as a party activist lost his life in an accidental fireworks explosion. The incident took place on Saturday evening in Kondotty, according to police reports.
The deceased, identified as 40-year-old Irshad, was riding his scooter while bursting crackers. A stray spark reportedly ignited the stash of fireworks he was carrying, setting both the scooter and Irshad ablaze, resulting in fatal burn injuries.
Local police stated that the body would be released to Irshad's family following the completion of inquest processes and postmortem examinations.
