Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has been appointed as the new president of the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit. The formal announcement was made on Sunday by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, in an event attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The appointment came after Chaudhary filed his nomination on Saturday, where he was the only candidate in the running. His nomination papers were submitted to former Union minister Mahendra Nath Pandey and overseen by central election observer Vinod Tawde.

Notably, Chaudhary, a seven-time Lok Sabha MP from Maharajganj, is known for his close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Belonging to the Kurmi community under the OBC category, Chaudhary brings experienced leadership to the party.
