The municipal elections across 29 corporations in Maharashtra on Thursday were marred by a series of confrontations, fraudulent voting claims, and issues with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Despite these incidents, officials asserted that Mumbai, the largest of these constituencies, saw no major disruptions.
While Mumbai remained relatively calm, chaos unfolded in other areas with reports of faulty EVMs in places like Nagpur, Amravati, and Akola. Allegations of bogus voting surfaced in cities such as Sangli, Thane, and Pune, inciting further unrest.
Clashes erupted between political party workers, including multiple incidents involving Shiv Sena and BJP members. Authorities intervened to control these incidents, demonstrating the heated nature of the elections. In some cases, the voting process was temporarily halted, underlining the challenges faced during the polls.
