Chandrashekhar Bawankule, a prominent Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader, has celebrated the emerging victory of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He attributed the success to the 'double-engine' government's emphasis on development, citing the public's support for their agenda.

In a press conference in Nagpur, Bawankule affirmed his belief that the BJP would secure a two-thirds majority across 29 Municipal Corporations in the state. He highlighted the trust placed in Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde's Mahayuti, and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led double-engine governance, stating that voters in Mumbai prioritize development. With key development projects like the metro railway and coastal road, the BJP is leading in 126 seats, emerging as the largest party with 97 seats.

Responding to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut's accusations of Electronic Voting Machines' malfunction, Bawankule dismissed the claims, stating that the machines favored development-focused candidates. While acknowledging Congress's lead over the BJP in Latur, he stated the party would analyze the results, where the BJP won 22 out of 70 seats.
