The Congress has regained dominance in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation elections, securing 28 of 66 seats and outshining other competing parties. Despite ongoing vote counting, Congress, with its allies, leads ahead of the BJP, which holds 26 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) has 6, and Independents have 2.

Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar announced plans to establish control over the civic body, aiming to appoint a Congress mayor with support from various corporators, hinting a total backing of over 40 representatives. He attributes the victory to voter dissatisfaction with BJP's governance.

Wadettiwar criticized the BJP for failing to address issues such as corruption, economic instability, and inadequate public services, suggesting these factors led to electoral defeat. Jubilant Congress supporters celebrated outside the party office, marking their political comeback with fireworks and drums.
