In a surprising political move, BJP MLC Sandip Joshi, closely allied with Maharashtra's Chief Minister and a prominent Union minister, has announced his retirement from political life. Joshi, aged 55, cited the pressing need to make space for younger leaders amid current political challenges.
Joshi's announcement came through a heartfelt letter shared on social media, where he emphasized politics as a service rather than a pursuit for prestige. Disillusioned by the increasing political defections and competition, he highlighted the insufficiency of seats and growing expectations as factors prompting his decision.
Committing to complete his term until May 2026, Joshi stated his intent to retire thereafter, opting to serve as a social worker. He expressed gratitude to the BJP and acknowledged the significant impact of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on his life. Joshi believes his departure will allow opportunities for ordinary workers in the party.
