In the wake of the recent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Congress party is resolute in its mission to address local issues, despite its reduced strength. City Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad emphasized the party's commitment to solving civic problems during a media briefing on Monday.
Gaikwad alleged that the January 15 BMC elections were marred by severe breaches of the democratic process. The claims included intense pressure on candidates to withdraw, illicit money distribution, and voting irregularities, tarnishing the electoral integrity, according to her.
Amidst these challenges, Gaikwad commended Congress workers for their unwavering resolve and announced priorities such as improving infrastructure, reducing pollution, and tackling corruption within the BMC. As opposition to the ruling party, despite the constraints, Congress remains focused on voicing public concerns and enhancing urban governance in Mumbai.
