Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the upcoming Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Elections 2026. During a press conference on Thursday, Thackeray highlighted significant issues with voter lists, the use of removable ink, and the deployment of outdated electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Thackeray alleges a concerted effort to manipulate the electoral process, pointing out that some voter names are missing and expressing skepticism over the Election Commission's response. With reports of EVM malfunctions and voter list discrepancies flooding in from Mumbai and other cities, the opposition is demanding an immediate investigation into these irregularities.

Criticizing the government's proposal for 'One Nation One Election,' Thackeray called it a strategy to commit electoral fraud on a national scale. Urging citizens to protest against these alleged irregularities, he accused the government of a 'blatant murder of democracy.' The voting process, underway across 29 municipal corporations, is crucial for cities including Mumbai and Pune, with counting scheduled for January 16.
