In a bid to ensure electoral integrity, Odisha's Opposition BJD has voiced concerns over the Election Commission's handling of Form 17C data from the 2024 elections. Despite repeated requests, the party claims the EC has yet to upload this crucial voting data online, which they argue is vital for transparency.
Speaking at a press conference, BJD representatives accused the EC of ignoring discrepancies between the votes polled and votes counted in several constituencies. These discrepancies, they say, undermine the credibility of the election results. BJD leaders have met with the EC multiple times, seeking explanations and access to information, but feel the responses have been inadequate.
Highlighting their commitment to democracy, the BJD has called on the Election Commission to allow political parties to participate in periodic Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) audits. They argue such measures are necessary to dispel public doubts and ensure fair electoral practices in future elections.
