In a significant development for Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh was sworn in as the Chief Minister on Wednesday, vowing to build trust and peace among the state's 36 communities. He highlighted his commitment to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's faith in his leadership.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Deputy CM L Dikho echoed the commitment to inclusivity, stating, "Inclusiveness is the new mantra of the government." The ceremony saw participation from a diverse leadership, including BJP MLA Nemcha Kipgen from the Kuki community, who took her oath virtually.
The formation of this government marks the end of President's rule, as BJP's spokesperson Laimayum Bashanta Sharma commented on the potential for peace and development. Political analysts view the focus on inclusiveness as a strategic move to stabilize both the hills and valley areas.
