The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest at Desh Bhagat University in Fatehgarh Sahib against a planned visit by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The protest was led by Amloh MLA Gurinder Singh Garry Birring, with participants denouncing the BJP-led central government and burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Although Chief Minister Saini did not attend, Birring suggested that the visit was canceled amid opposition from AAP members. He criticized Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for delegating Haryana's chief minister to the event, questioning, 'Does Punjab not have its own ministers or leaders?'
Addressing the crowd, Birring expressed concerns over increasing Haryana's influence in Punjab's institutions and lambasted the central government over the India-US trade agreement, claiming it harms Punjab's farmers and businesses by ignoring their agricultural interests.
