On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unveiled a set of five guarantee schemes aimed at transforming Kerala, should the United Democratic Front (UDF) come to power. Among the major announcements was free bus travel for all women, alongside a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 for female college students.
Gandhi also pledged to increase welfare pensions to ₹3,000 per month. Additionally, he introduced a health insurance scheme named after former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, providing insurance coverage of up to ₹25 lakh for each family.
Other promises included interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh for small businesses and the appointment of a dedicated minister for senior citizen welfare. These announcements were made during the 'Puthuyuga Yatra' valedictory function held in Thiruvananthapuram.
