Senior BJP leader Sobha Surendran inaugurated her election campaign in Palakkad on Sunday, against the backdrop of speculation over her potential candidacy in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Surendran marked the campaign's commencement with a wall painting in Palakkad town. When questioned about contesting from the constituency, she stated that election candidacies would be determined by the party's leadership in coordination with the BJP's core group, dismissing any ongoing speculation.

Further, she touted a development-oriented budget similar to the one in Thiruvananthapuram, where the BJP is also in power, as an initiative by the BJP-led Palakkad municipality. Surendran noted a growing acceptance of the BJP-NDA across Kerala, emphasizing the party's ambition for a 'double-engine government' and highlighting its increasing vote share in traditionally strong LDF zones.
