The Indian armed forces have commenced participation in a joint military exercise with Seychelles, known as Exercise Lamitiye, from March 9 to 20. The aim is to improve synergy and interoperability between the two forces, as reported by the Defence Ministry.

This year's event marks the inclusion of all three services of the Indian military, featuring personnel from the Assam Regiment, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force, along with the INS Trikand and a C-130 aircraft. Held at the Seychelles Defence Academy, the exercise is designed to enhance sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environments during peacekeeping missions.

As a biennial training event running since 2001, Exercise Lamitiye focuses on fostering bilateral military relations, skill exchange, and the execution of tactical drills. The 12-day program will culminate in a two-day validation exercise, contributing to a robust mutual understanding between Indian and Seychelles forces.
