In a dramatic demonstration, Congress workers took to the streets outside the Indian National Congress headquarters in Delhi on Friday, protesting against an alleged shortage of LPG cylinders. The protesters, calling for the resignation of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, accused the government of failing to ensure an adequate cooking gas supply.

Amidst loud chants against the central government, the demonstrators set up a makeshift chulha, or traditional stove, to prepare tea as a symbolic act, emphasizing the plight faced by households due to the reported LPG shortage. Many Congress members claimed that families nationwide are regressing to traditional cooking methods due to the scarcity of cylinders.

Speaking to ANI, a Congress leader attributed the crisis to flawed governmental policies, pointing out that households are currently waiting in long lines for LPG cylinders. The leader alleged that several establishments, including the Delhi High Court's canteen, have been affected by the shortage, contradicting official assertions that there is no shortage problem.

Drawing parallels to past government shortcomings during demonetisation and the COVID-19 pandemic, the leader stated that the nation is once again facing a similar crisis. As the demonstration escalated, Delhi Police intervened, detaining several protesters.

Congress MP Mohammad Jawed questioned the government's claims about LPG availability, highlighting increased prices despite asserted supply adequacy. Congress MP Manoj Kumar challenged the accountability for the price hike, urging the public to discern the truth amid governmental denials.
