In a strategic move ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections on March 16, the Congress party has transferred several of its Odisha legislators to Bengaluru. The shift, orchestrated amid fears of cross-voting and external influence, involves eight MLAs staying at a resort near Bengaluru.
Congress sources have revealed that the precautionary decision follows the BJP's introduction of a second candidate, sparking a wave of political maneuvering in Odisha. Concerns over potential inducements and cross-voting prompted the Congress to relocate its members to ensure cohesion before the crucial vote.
The operation is led by Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, as more legislators are anticipated to arrive. This headcount reinforcement is crucial for Congress, which requires additional support for its Rajya Sabha nominee amid this politically charged atmosphere.
