Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the launch of 827 road projects under PMGSY-IV in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Friday, with a substantial budget of Rs 1,698 crore. The projects aim to cover 1,701 km, offering all-weather connectivity to 898 habitations for the very first time.

Chouhan noted the initiative as part of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision to connect every Indian village with reliable roads. These roads are viewed as essential lifelines for rural populations, facilitating access to schools, hospitals, and markets, and catalyzing overall socio-economic growth.

The Union Minister also revealed additional financial support through the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission scheme, aimed at bolstering rural livelihoods. He emphasized the government’s dedication to empowering women, farmers, and youth through various developmental projects and initiatives.
