The Patna High Court has granted bail to JD(U) Member of Legislative Assembly Anant Singh in connection with the murder of Dular Chand Yadav. The incident took place during last year's Bihar election campaign.
Singh, who was arrested on November 1, had been accused of orchestrating Yadav's murder. Despite being behind bars, he won the Mokama assembly seat by defeating Veena Singh of RJD with a margin of over 28,000 votes.
Justice Rudra Prakash Mishra of the High Court granted him bail on a bond of Rs 15,000, with the condition that Singh must not tamper with evidence or influence witnesses during the trial. This decision comes even as the political legacy of Singh's family continues to dominate the Mokama assembly seat since 1990.
