Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, aspiring from the Nemom constituency, addressed the media on Friday, emphasizing the shifting dynamics within the Congress party. According to Chandrasekhar, the exodus of Congress leaders is attributed to the party's perceived emphasis on allegiance to the Gandhi family, rather than meritocracy.
Chandrasekhar officially welcomed former Congress members BS Anoop and Arun Raj into the BJP, underscoring the party's vision of fostering 'Viksit Kerala.' He firmly criticized the Congress for sidelining talent and elevating sycophancy, a sentiment echoed by many within the party ranks, he asserted.
In anticipation of the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP released two candidate lists, featuring a total of 86 contenders. Among the notable placements, K Ranjith will challenge the sitting Kerala Chief Minister from Dharmadam, while esteemed personalities such as former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan make up the roster. Polling is set for April 9, with results expected on May 4, as political alliances aimed at displacing the ruling LDF intensify.
