On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, warning of its potential long-term consequences while emphasizing India's diplomatic efforts to ease tensions. He stated that dialogue and diplomacy are the sole paths to resolving the conflict, urging India to stay prepared for its lasting impacts.
During a Lok Sabha session, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for unity and vigilance. He drew parallels to the nation's unified response during the coronavirus pandemic, calling for continued caution against those spreading misinformation to exploit the situation. India's diplomatic actions, he noted, involve encouraging de-escalation and dialogue among the involved parties.
Modi detailed his conversations with West Asian leaders, condemning attacks on civilians, energy infrastructure, and commercial vessels, including the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed the importance of unimpeded passage for Indian ships and reiterated India's commitment to global peace and humanitarian welfare.
The Prime Minister underlined the need for security enhancements in India, covering coastal, border, and cyber areas. He cautioned against entities attempting to exploit the crisis, urging law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert while calling for cooperation among state governments to curtail black marketing and hoarding activities.
