Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing a public gathering in Kerala's Paravur, highlighted accusations against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) for allegedly betraying religious values for economic gains. Singh drew parallels between the betrayal of Lord Ayyappa and Judas's betrayal of Christ, to emphasize the gravity of the issue.
Slinging accusations not only at the LDF but also at the United Democratic Front (UDF), Singh claimed that both parties are plagued by corruption and have consistently failed to deliver on public promises. He critiqued their governance as divisive and detrimental to Kerala's economic health.
Singh further alleged there was government-linked gold smuggling in 2020 and implicated individuals close to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in financial malpractice, referencing the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd case. As Kerala heads towards Assembly elections, these accusations add a layer of complexity to the political landscape.
