Senior Congress Leader's Resignation Sparks Political Turmoil in Nagaland

In a significant political development, K. Therie, a senior Congress leader and former state minister, has tendered his resignation from the party. The resignation comes amid allegations of a 'breach of trust' and unconstitutional interference by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) into the affairs of Congress's Nagaland unit.

Therie submitted his resignation to the AICC president through Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, the MP in charge of Nagaland, citing the AICC's withdrawal from a critical agreement ensuring the NPCC's autonomy. This agreement, aligned with Article 371A, was designed to maintain the Nagaland unit's independence while retaining a national outlook.

Therie further criticized the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan initiative for undermining NPCC's leadership, and accused AICC functionaries of election fund mismanagement. While NPCC president S Supongmeren Jamir has yet to receive Therie's resignation letter, the AICC has not issued an official response at this time.
